Summary: |
From Pat Deveney's database:
Theosophisches Leben. Raatz, along with Franz Hartmann, Max Altmann, Theodor Reuss, Leopold Engel, and others, originally left the Deutsche Theosophische Gesellschaft to start the Theosophische Gesellschaft in Europa (Deutschland), the branch of the T.S. that followed W.Q. Judge and Katherine Tingley in their fight with the Adyar Theosophists. Hartmann and most of these dissidents then abandoned the TSiE(D) and began their own independent Internationale Theosophische Verbruderung (ITV), which was usually called the Theosophische Gesellschaft in Deutschland (TGiD), of which Theosophisches Leben was the organ. See the note under Theosophische Nachrichten. Contributions by A. Ulysses, Felix Schikora, Julius Eggers, Adolph Zippel, et al., as well as by H.P. Blavatsky, W.Q. Judge, and "Jasper Niemand." Raatz's wife and Dora Corvinus also published a companion journal to Theosophisches Leben intended for children: Sonnenstrahlen: Monatsschrift fur die Jugend.
