This was primarily a literary journal, with frequent examples of poetry of a decidedly modernistic slant, but with lengthy articles on "the problem of the soul," "On the Spiritualist Phenomena and their Interpretation" (by César Lombroso), "Science and Spiritualism," and the like. Herrera y Reissig was a famous poet and criminal lawyer of the time and graced the journal with a disquisition on the wonders of the "single tax": "Henry George: Su Escuela de Economia Politica--El Sistema Economico del 'Single Tax,'" which he later published as an influential book.
