The society and this journal grew out of the Congres International de Psychology held in Paris in 1900 at which its future members met and decided to pursue their interests. It is notable because of its regular studies of oriental religions in the light of spiritualism and parapsychology, for its extensive reviews of the literature, and for communications of original research of the members.
