No. 1, 1967-1972.
16-50 pp., 5 mk for members of Interplanetistit ry, a UFO organization founded in Helsinki in 1962 by Arvi Merikallio.

The journal was started in 1963 as Lentolautaslehti and then renamed Vimana in 1967. The name is the Sanskrit term for the flying chariots or castles of various epics like the Ramayana, and was taken up by the UFO movement as proof that UFOs predated 1947. The journal carried a "Summary in English" that made it plain that the journal believed that the coming of the saucers marked a turning point for mankind:

"In this the first issue of the "VIMANA" the editorial stresses the probability that mankind now has reached a turning point in evolution: we are starting to free ourselves from the mental confinement that we have created around ourselves on Earth, and so we begin to see deeper into space - and into ourselves. Sofar in history it has never been easy for people to accept great changes in their views of life and universe. In our days we might think it fantastic and ridiculous that men like Galilei, Kopernikus and Bruno had to have such rough times with their contemporaries. However, situation is not much better to--day) the new and revolutionary point this time being the statements and conclusions that we are not alone in the Universe."

The journal occasionally provided a Summary in English and also brief notes in English on sightings of UFOs around the world. Although the journal continued as an annual after 1972 it is said that most of its staff and contributors transferred their allegiance to Ultra.
