Summary: |
From Pat Deveney's database:
Psychological Herald. This was the organ of Ashby's Atlanta Psychological Society, a New Thought organization that met Sunday afternoons beginning about 1906. "The scope and influence of this Society has been far-reading. Hundreds of people testify to having been inspired to independent thinking, and to having been benefited in many ways by coming to the meetings and getting hold of constructive ideas which they applied to individual life." The society hosted talks by the likes of H.H. Brown, Harry Gaze, Henry Frank, Swami Abhedananda, et al., and espoused the comforting and uplifting side of New Thought. Rose Mae Salley Ashby (1878-1959) was active in the various national and international New Thought societies of the era and had been involved in the organization of the Georgia Woman Suffrage Association and theAtlanta Equal Suffrage League.
