The finest exposition of Spiritualism by its leading thinkers." The journal carried the largest collection for this late period of notes and articles on trance, healing, mediums, spiritualism, psychic development, reincarnation, etc. Barbanell (1902-1981) ran the journal until 1946 when he left after a disagreement with Arthur Findlay, who had helped finance the journal. He returned to the editorship, after an interim period as editor of Two Worlds, in 1962, continuing until he died in 1981. He was the medium for Silver Birch, who prompted Barbanel to start this journal in the first place, at the long-lasting Hannen Swaffer circles. From the early 1940s until 1970 the journal claimed to be the spiritualist journal with the world's largest circulation. From the 1950s on the journal expanded its coverage from spiritualism, first to Wicca and then to the paranormal and occult generally.
