Other titles: Probe Magazine
1965--1968 Bimonthly, quarterly
Woonsocket, RI.
Language: English.
Editor: Joseph L. Ferriere and Armand A. Laprade.
Publisher: Space Age Communications, Inc.
Succeeds: Controversial Phenomena Bulletin (1963-1965)
2/5, September 1965-5/1, 1968. Continues the volume numbering of the preceding Bulletin. 20 pp., $2.00 a year (6 issues). This was a collection, mainly newspaper clippings, on UFOs and the unexplained and controversial generally, together with short comments on the death of George Adamski, the oddity of power failures in New York City in a world that had achieved space flight, etc., and articles on the likes of "UFO Sightings Prior to 1947." The journal listed a large number of regional representatives, including Allen Greenfield and Gene Duplantier, who have their own histories in the UFO movement. The journal carried notable advertising for the peripheral and offbeat: "You Are Younger than You Think. Stop Reincarnating! Gnosis is Power" by the Institute of Advanced Thinking of Cleveland, Ohio., and "Biblical Allegory and Correct Nutrition,"of St. Louis, Missouri, and "Master Your Life! Influence Others! Unfold Mind Powers," Detroit, Michigan. Ferriere was a local Rhode Island radio-show host and owner of a nostalgia shop. He was famous in the UFO community for his photographs of a 700-foot cigar-shaped UFO hovering in the sky. The end of this journal, as of so many others, is probably connected with the 1968 publication of the Condon Report. The journal is to be distinguished from Probe the Unknown published in Burbank, California and The Probe Report, Bristol, England (q.v.).
