This was typical German periodical of the era, with scholarly pretensions, devoting its pages to neo-Kantianism, Atlantis and Lemuria, Naturphilosophie, cathode rays, Strindberg and the Rosa Mystica, Thomas Taylor's Eleusinian and Bacchic Mysteries, astral magnetism, phrenology, Xenologie, Leonard da Vinci and Alchemy, the metaphysical meaning of Wagner's Tristan, symbolism of carpets, Hoene-Wronski, Kabbalah and Neoplatonism, Paracelsus, etc. Contributions by Franz Hartmann, Howard Carter, Otto Bryk, Guido von List, F. Maack, Kurt Geissler, Edouard von Hartmann, et al. The journal also published Robert Hielle's fourth Scientific Report on Occultism. Hielle was the cofounder of the Wissenschaftlicher Verein für Okkultismus in Wien, a parapsychology institute that studied psychic influence on magnets, Anna Rothke, Mrs. Piiper, and Mme d'Esperance and others and published Seelenkunde in Vienna. At the end of 1903 the journal was bought and consolidated with Luzifer, the organ of the Adyar-oriented Berlin Theosophists led by Rudolf Steiner and Marie von Sievers, to form Luzifer Gnosis/Luzifer mit der Gnosis.
