Bibliotheca Platonica was a short-lived but serious American quarterly (1889–90) edited from Osceola, Missouri by the judge and Neoplatonist Thomas M. Johnson, devoted to Plato, Plotinus and the whole later Platonic tradition. Its pages carry Porphyry's account of Plotinus's writings, discussions of contemplative ascent through 'mental prayer' and degrees of concentration, and a metaphysics in which the visible world descends from prior 'causal life forms.' Learned rather than popular, it belongs to perennial philosophy and Western esotericism at their most scholarly, engaging Gnostic and theurgic material as part of the Platonic inheritance. Johnson's Theosophical Society ties give it a mild TS adjacency without making it a Theosophical organ. It is one of the touchstones of the nineteenth-century American Platonist revival.
