The Annals of Psychical Science was the English-language edition of the Continental Annales des Sciences Psychiques, published in London between 1905 and 1910 under César de Vesme with Laura I. Finch. It belongs to the empirical wing of the movement, and its pages are denser with mediums and seances than any other title in this archive — not as articles of faith but as cases under examination, in the manner of Charles Richet, Camille Flammarion and Colonel Albert de Rochas. Its characteristic apparatus is inherited from mesmerism: magnetic passes, somnambulic lucidity, the odic fluid, and de Rochas's experiments in the externalisation of sensibility and in hypnotic regression, in which entranced subjects were walked backwards through their lives and, the experimenters claimed, past birth into earlier ones.
