| Summary: |
From Pat Deveney's database:
American Dowser, The. The journal was devoted to the development of the practical skills necessary for dowsing, theories and discussions of why and how dowsing works, articles on the history of the art and its Christian background, clippings from the press mentioning dowsing, accounts of events and conventions of the society, and articles and letters on related topics, like pendulums. While dowsing is often equated with "water witching," the journal extended the reach of the art to oil, gas, various minerals, and lost property. LOC; LSU; University of Vermont, etc.
